Direct marketing

Until now it has only been possible to directly market electricity produced by systems with a capacity of over 500 kilowatt peak. As the owner of a smaller photovoltaic system with an installed performance exceeding 100 kilowatt peak you will, however, in future also be responsible for selling any electricity which you do not use yourself. Optimum marketing requires a high degree of know-how and many years of experience in the field of power production. WIRSOL can provide you with this know-how, and now offers you a simple, economical way of entering the direct marketing segment.

As a project developer we have been assisting you with your energy revolution for many years now. In future we will also be the strong partner at your side when it comes to direct marketing. We can handle the sale and invoicing of the electricity you generate on our own responsibility. Our goal is to achieve responsible integration of your renewable energy into the system. Frequently asked questions concerning direct marketing

What does ‘direct marketing’ mean?

Normally the operator of a solar or wind power system sells his energy to the relevant regional grid operator, receiving a tariff rate which lies above the market price for the corresponding form of energy. Following this, the relevant network operator delivers the electricity to the end consumer, and is compensated for the difference between the market price and the price paid to the operator. This compensation is financed via a surcharge paid by end consumers. In the case of direct marketing, in contrast, the system operator feeds his electricity into a public grid without receiving subsidies, selling it directly to any interested purchaser.

What changes will direct marketing cause?

If your system goes into operation after 1 January 2016 and has an installed capacity of over 100 kilowatt peak, then it will fall under the new regulations for obligatory direct marketing. New systems which fail to participate in direct marketing will automatically fall under the outage compensation scheme which is equivalent to only 80 percent of the revenue generated by direct marketing.

What subsidies will there be for direct marketing?

Electricity obtained via direct marketing can be subsidized via an optional market premium and an additional management premium. The market premium is intended as an incentive to operators to feed the electricity they produce into the grid more often when demand and thus prices on electricity exchanges are particularly high.

What is the difference to conventional electricity deliveries to network operators?

Electricity which is delivered to network operators in the conventional manner must be purchased by the network operators and receives a fixed rate of payment. In the case of direct marketing you will receive a tariff for your electricity which is linked to prices on the electricity exchange and a market premium which compensates you for the difference to the EEG tariff. Parallel to this, you will benefit from any extra revenue resulting from greater flexibility.

What can we do for you?

We offer customers who install a WIRSOL system an exclusive service – namely handling of the subsequent registration and any other coordination with the network operator. This includes initiation of direct marketing and thus the full entitlement to remuneration from the first kilowatt hour of electricity fed into the grid as well as verification within the corresponding deadlines that the system can be remotely controlled. We can help you to comply with deadlines and to provide all the required documents. Parallel to this, we can provide information about changes in the law and regulations.
